Tran Thi Quynh Tram

Why did Quynh Tram make this decision and what was her secret to persuading the Admissions Committee? We talked to Quynh Tram to hear more about her journey to obtain a top scholarship in the United States.
  • Quynh Tram has excelled by receiving a 75% Scholarship from Brandeis University, which is ranked 42nd of the best universities in the United States
  • This talented girl also chose to study Economics and Computer Science, a complex combination of professions that require a high level of study and thinking skills
  • She was excellent as the role of "leader" of extracurricular activities during her three years of high school such as: Chairman of the student council, Co-Secretary General of VINMUN, Founder & Former Chairman of Heroes Club, Xis Sign Project, Women in Trading Club, and Former Chairman of KSRC Project...

“The process of sharing with like-minded friends helped me discover and understand myself better.”

Sharing the process of preparing the application, Quynh Tram said that the most important thing was the ability to write an essay to highlight her personality.

According to Quynh Tram, every person has a period in which they do not feel special. When reading so many articles on the Internet with the exclusive essay topics of the previous students, Quynh Tram felt very pressured. However, as soon as she realised negative thoughts were blocking her steps, Quynh Tram decided to take a moment to reflect and explore herself.

It was at Vinschool that Quynh Tram met and found many friends with the same goals – all wishing to be able to prepare well for prestigious university applications locally and globally. Through discussions with friends, Quynh Tram gained more knowledge about how to impress the University Admissions Committee. She also gradually discovered the highlights and interesting aspects of herself to put in the application essays.

Especially, one of Quynh Tram’s classmates, Nguyen Tue Minh-  also an excellent Vinser with many outstanding academic achievements. After many conversations and exchanges, Tue Minh’s love for Computer Science inspired Quynh Tram to choose Computer Science as one of the majors she wanted to pursue at University.

As for Economics, Tram said that she had been acquainted with this subject since the 11th grade and Mr. Hung, Teacher of Economics at Vinschool, helped her feel very fond of this subject. Therefore, Quynh Tram has selected Economics as her second major in higher education.

“Choose the most outstanding extracurricular experiences to include in your application”

Quynh Tram was excellent as the role of “leader” of extracurricular activities during her three years of high school such as: Chairman of the student council, Co-Secretary General of VINMUN, Founder & Former Chairman of Heroes Club, Xis Sign Project, Women in Trading Club, and Former Chairman of KSRC Project…

According to Quynh Tram, for students who want to apply to universities in the United States, extracurricular activities included in the application must be particularly prominent activities. She shared that she had a project on sign language which created a great impression on the Admissions Committee.

Another experience that Quynh Tram would like to share with those who intend to “win” international scholarships is to spend time researching the postgraduate learning opportunities at the school that you are aiming for. Quynh Tram has studied, applied and been admitted to the International Business Scholar programme. Then, after 4 years of university, she will have the opportunity to study for an MBA within one year. This is a great opportunity that many students often miss when studying at universities.

“Teachers not only monitor learning progress but also care about the mental health of students”

Sharing about the learning experience at Vinschool, Quynh Tram said she had received a lot of support from teachers, the Mentoring team, as well as the Student Affairs Department.

According to Quynh Tram, teachers always ask questions and are concerned not only about GPA in class but also about the mental health of students. She said that when students are stressed or tired of learning problems or the application stage of universities, teachers will quickly contact and help them overcome difficulties, both physically and mentally. For Quynh Tram, it was one of the many things that she appreciated while studying at Vinschool. “One of the most special things that I feel at Vinschool is the consistent support from teachers in all areas- from mental health to GPA, or career orientation support later on- without any imbalance”.

When in the United States, to start the first year of university, Quynh Tram would like to get to know friends from many different countries, and to not only get to know and experience the culture of the United States but also gain more knowledge about the customs of many other parts of the world.

Thank you Quynh Tram for sharing and we wish you an exciting journey ahead in the United States!
