Successfully passing the screening test for a specialized Chemistry program at Hà Nội Amsterdam high school, Trịnh Minh Quân, a student from class 9A19 shared: “I took the test to see where I was, compared to the others. Right from the beginning, I had decided to that I would continue to study at Vinschool to follow my dream”.
Quân explained that at Vinschool, he can pursue learning projects, discover new things under the direction of teachers and is given opportunities to experience real-life lessons. Since he was selected for the GATE Center at Vinschool, Quân also has had the opportunity to take part in many academic research projects. Right now, he is working with Le Thi Tuoi (PhD in Genetic Engineering – Biochemistry ) and Nguyen Xuan Viet (PhD in Genetics), Head of Genetics Department on the project: “Isolate cordyceps to produce an optimum variety through sexual hybridization and tissue culture.”This research will constitute a competition entry at the 18th ‘The Elementz’ Science Project Competition and Exhibition, which Quân will take part in this July in Singapore.
Quân is 1 of 15 talented students from the GATE Center who passed the Talent Search – an gateway to The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and has received 100% tuition assistance from Vinschool to take part in CTY’s online courses. During CTY’s assessment, Quân’s mathematics ability was rated as 2 grades above that of his peers, and he was in the top 4% of test takers.
“My goal for these 3 years of high school is to be fully-equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently undertake scientific research in college. Studying high school at Vinschool will give me the opportunity to select courses that suit my career path”.
Minh Quân also expressed this wish when applying for Vinschool – VinUni scholarship: “This scholarship will help me to identify a long-term study path, and can make my dreams come true. In the future, I know I want to study more about scientific research, and I think this will be a good opportunity for me to realize my dreams. Hopefully it can also be an inspiration to other students”.
