Let’s follow Vinser Ngo My Linh, a student of grade 11A1 from Vinschool Times City High School, on the experience of studying at the Marketing Department of Thang Long University.

My Linh thought that she would only attend some media classes at the university, however, after a week of studying, she has directly experienced many tasks of the Marketing Department, tasks such as recording and brainstorming ideas for events. During the first “working” session, she was introduced to the most basic concepts of this field (4P, PR, TVC, etc.) and was assigned to record a piece of professional news. In the role of television editors, My Linh and her friends have been assigned many tasks such as sound management, text machine adjustment, lighting adjustment, scripting, and coordinating group activities with professional recording tools in the studio.

On the second day, My Linh and her friends participated in the practice of planning and presenting the communication idea to the university after only 4 hours from the time of the assignment. Through the activity, the students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the time-critical requirements of the field as well as the process of developing an idea for a media product.

Over the next two days, My Linh and her friends were able to follow the university’s Marketing and Communications staff to make a recording of a Tet video project. Students were invited to participate in different groups, including film crews, fine arts crews, production crews, logistics crews, and behind-the-scenes crews. Choosing to join the production team, My Linh had the task of supervising the footage and managing the tools and shooting content as well as being directly involved in the post-production work.

“This is the first time I have directly observed the process of recording a video, setting up backstage and learning about how the cameras work. I was surprised to see so many machines and wires everywhere, and the lighting equipment and camera setups were also extremely professional. I didn’t expect a small project to require such a large investment and effort.”

At the end of the training week, My Linh joined other students in looking back at the knowledge and experience learned from the products that she had completed.

“Looking back, those 5 days passed very quickly, and there are still many more things we want to experience. Through this internship period I was equipped a lot of practical knowledge about Marketing and Multimedia Communication, which will be extremely useful to me in my future career and the study orientation process.”

In year 10, Vinschool students participate in many career counselling activities, including seminars with experts in the fields, taking personality tests, and being provided with information about the job market so that they can soon choose subjects in accordance with their career orientation. In year 11, they participate in the learning program at the enterprise to learn about the working environment, experience the reality and understand more deeply about the field they pursue.

In the regular program for general education, students learn about the working environment, development trends of the industry, and have the opportunity to exchange face-to-face and learn from the “foreground” at leading enterprises in the fields of Business Administration, Hotel Management, Finance, Education & Training and Science and Technology. This is a very effective career guidance method.
