With an optimal academic pathway and an early development of potential in the field of psychology, Vinser An Khanh, a 12A2 student at Vinschool Times City, has successfully secured a scholarship worth over 7.1 billion VND from Bryn Mawr College – a renowned women’s college that has produced famous figures such as geneticist Nettie Stevens, who discovered the significance of the X and Y chromosomes, and actress Katharine Hepburn, a Hollywood icon during its golden age.
In addition to her impressive academic achievements, including an SAT score of 1530, what other secrets does An Khanh have? Let’s listen to her story and explore her journey to securing this valuable scholarship!
“My passion for psychology was formed and nurtured at Vinschool, where I had the opportunity to learn and develop my passion with lecturers who are top experts in psychology, including PhD graduates from the National University of Singapore.”
An Khanh revealed that the psychology counselors at Vinschool were the ones who inspired her to pursue psychology. They guided and supported her through the stressful times of balancing studies with leading school clubs.
At Vinschool, An Khanh was also given the opportunity to take free AP Psychology classes with highly qualified and experienced instructors who graduated from the National University of Singapore. As a result, she earned an outstanding score of 4/5 in AP Psychology, showcasing her potential in the field. Furthermore, her time at Vinschool not only enhanced her knowledge and skills for better self-care of mental health, but also allowed her to help others increase awareness and overcome psychological challenges through the HERA community project on gender-based violence.
Thanks to the practical experiences from implementing community projects and the thorough guidance from her psychology teachers, An Khanh became a standout candidate before the Bryn Mawr College scholarship committee with her essay, “Strength Found in Weakness,” which emphasized the inner struggles of youth facing the stringent standards of society.
“My strength in the application process was my ability to write academic English fluently, which was honed during my studies at Vinschool.”
In addition to her excellent command of English with an IELTS score of 8.5, An Khanh shared that the academic writing skills she developed in the Academic Writing classes at Vinschool greatly helped her during the scholarship application process, especially in the essay-writing phase. In these classes, she refined her writing skills, regularly practicing writing structures like cause-and-effect and literature reviews. This helped her develop critical thinking and fluency in academic English writing.
Thank you, An Khanh, for sharing your inspiring story! We wish you continued success on the path you have chosen!
