An Nam Anh

GATE student earns the highest attainment level in music performance offered by the world’s leading examination board for music
  • Winning the Gold Award in Drums at the Asia-Pacific Arts Festival when he was 13;
  • Being the youngest drummer to make it to the final of the Drum-off Global 2019 in Singapore;
  • Being one of the only 2 drummers in Vietnam (alongside drum prodigy Trong Nhan) to receive Trinity’s Level 3 Certificate in Graded Examination in Rock and Pop Drums (Grade 6).

Recently, An Nam Anh, a 9th grader at Vinschool Central Park Secondary School, has been awarded the Grade 8 Drums – Level 3 Certificate in Graded Examination in Rock and Pop with Distinction for an almost perfect mark of 95/100. This is the highest attainment level of such exams organized by Trinity College London (TCL), a world-class examination board for music.

An Nam Anh was among the 6 candidates in Vietnam to take Trinity’s Rock and Pop Drums exam for Grade 8 (the highest qualification available) in 2020. Despite his young age, Nam Anh made it to the list of top achievers in the exam, proving that his drumming skills are on a par with those of professional drummers worldwide.

As a music talent of Vinschool’s Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Center, Nam Anh has his own advanced learning plan and is taking part in a number of courseworks to help him reach his full potential. Besides Nam Anh, all other GATE students from different areas such as Leadership, Robotics, Scientific Research, etc. are also receiving tailor-made learning plans that match the needs and ability of each talent. Especially, training costs within any ALP will be sponsored in full by Vinschool.

Nam Anh receives one-on-one instruction from GATE’s invited expert

Drummer Tran Thang Chuong felt happy to see Nam Anh’s progress during his training at GATE Center: “Nam Anh has a natural aptitude for drumming, but it was not until he received proper training at GATE Center did he make great strides. The mark of 95/100 is astonishing not only to Vietnam but also to the world, and it is even more surprising to know that such achievement was made by a 15-year-old boy”.

Vinser An Nam Anh was overwhelmed with happiness and surprise: “That mark even went beyond my expectations. Despite facing numerous challenges at first, I tried hard every day and realized my love for drumming grew deeper, and my drumming skills got better”.

Before such an impressive achievement, the little drummer left his footprints on prestigious international competitions, including:

  • Winning the Gold Award in Drums at the Asia-Pacific Arts Festival when he was 13;
  • Being the youngest drummer to make it to the final of the Drum-off Global 2019 in Singapore;
  • Being one of the only 2 drummers in Vietnam (alongside drum prodigy Trong Nhan) to receive Trinity’s Level 3 Certificate in Graded Examination in Rock and Pop Drums (Grade 6).

GATE’s invited expert, professional drummer Tran Thang Chuong, will continue accompanying Nam Anh on his journey to conquer further international drum competitions.

We wish this talented and passionate Vinser success with his plans!
