Vinschool Thang Long Kindergarten has launched an innovative project called “My International Pen Pal,” connecting Alvin students (5-6 years old) in Vietnam with their peers at Harvest Preschool in the Philippines. This project not only bridges cultural gaps but also provides a fun and engaging way for children to improve their English skills naturally and confidently.

“Letters of Friendship” – Letters to My Pen Pal
Writing letters is a delightful way to express thoughts and emotions. Through this activity, children learn to convey their ideas in English by sending heartfelt letters to their international friends. Every word and sentence enhances their writing skills while fostering creativity and critical thinking. It’s also an opportunity for them to share their hobbies, family stories, and unique aspects of Vietnamese culture.

“Little Filmmakers” – Pen Pal TV
Creating videos allows the kids to showcase their personalities and speak about topics they love, from favorite activities to daily life at school. This activity boosts their confidence in speaking English, helping them master pronunciation, tone, and expressive communication. Each video captures their joyful and authentic selves, making learning fun and engaging.

“Connecting Hearts” – Pen Pal Connect
Through virtual meetings on Google Meet, students have the chance to interact in real-time using English. These live conversations help children practice listening, responding, and engaging in meaningful exchanges. Such interactions not only improve their speaking skills but also spark friendships that transcend borders.

“Discovering Friends” – Story Swap
Teachers prepared fun profiles about the children from the Philippines, including their names, hobbies, and daily routines. Vietnamese students read these profiles and completed quizzes based on the information. This activity hones their reading comprehension skills while sparking curiosity about their international friends. It’s a wonderful way to foster a love for reading and global exploration.

“My International Pen Pal” is more than just an English project; it’s a journey of discovery and connection. Through letters, videos, virtual conversations, and reading activities, children not only enhance their language skills but also learn empathy, understanding, and appreciation for diversity. This meaningful initiative equips them with essential tools for the future, encouraging them to grow and thrive in a global community.
