Grade 2 Vinsers Explore Nature And Folk Culture At Chimi Farm

In late October, Grade 2 Vinsers from Vinschool Smart City Primary School took part in an experiential learning trip titled “Exploring Nature and Folk Culture” at Chimi Farm, Dong Anh, Hanoi.

This special field trip allowed students to explore the natural environment while engaging in traditional folk activities, enriching their interdisciplinary knowledge across Science, Mathematics, Vietnamese Studies, and Vietnamese Language.

Grade 2 Vinsers rotated through four activity stations, each offering meaningful learning experiences:

1. “I Am a Little Artisan” Station

Students listened to artisans introduce the traditional craft of tò he figurine modeling, which they had previously learned about in the theme “Vietnamese Folk Art Forms.” Each child then created their own figurine to take home.

2. “Exploring Matter” Station

Here, students conducted two hands-on experiments: filtering and separating solid–liquid mixtures, and observing solubility and color changes in solutions.

3. “Chimi Market” Station

Students practiced teamwork through a relay challenge. Winning teams earned “money,” which they later spent at a miniature supermarket. Acting as buyers and sellers, the children practiced calculating costs to purchase desired items.

4. “Word Hunt” Station

This station reinforced Science and Vietnamese Language knowledge. Students identified living and non-living things by collecting quail eggs, feeding animals, and watering plants. They also searched for nouns and verbs, then formed sentences describing their activities.

By the end of the field trip, alongside the handmade products they proudly carried home, each Vinser gained deeper understanding of nature, folk culture, and the practical application of classroom learning.
