[Responsive Parenting Season 2 – Stage 3] Seminar “Transformative Parenting – Mom, Dad, I’ve Grown Up!”: When Children Grow, Parents Also Need To Transform To Continue Walking Alongside Them
As children grow each day, changes in their thinking, emotions, behaviors, and developing sense of identity require parents not only to understand them more deeply, but also to actively transform themselves in order to continue supporting their journey.
The seminar “Transformative Parenting – Mom, Dad, I’ve Grown Up!”, held last weekend in Hanoi, marked the third stage of the Responsive Parenting Season 2 journey. The event served as an important shift in perspective for parents—from focusing on “fixing children” to reflecting on and adjusting themselves within the parent–child relationship.
Grounded in developmental psychology and neuroscience, the program helped parents understand that strong emotional reactions or impulsive behaviors in children are not signs of deviation, but natural parts of brain development. When perspectives change, parental responses can shift as well—from control to understanding, from imposition to companionship.
More importantly, the seminar encouraged parents to recognize and address unconscious barriers in the parenting journey: ingrained habits, expectations, or the pressure to be “perfect.” By naming these challenges, parents can gradually adopt more flexible approaches that align with their children’s developmental stages.
Beyond raising awareness, the program also focused on transforming parenting behaviors by reinforcing core principles: empathetic communication, proactive boundary-setting, collaboration instead of control, and developing emotional self-regulation. These are not isolated techniques, but essential foundations for building positive and sustainable family relationships.
As the final stage of the “Emotional Map” in Responsive Parenting Season 2, the seminar completed a structured journey—from cultivating happiness, strengthening inner resilience, to transforming connection with children. Through this approach, Vinschool reaffirmed its commitment to supporting parents not only with short-term solutions, but with a systematic and sustainable approach to developing parenting capacity.
In addition to the main discussion session, parents participated in interactive workshops designed to help them recognize common parenting reflexes and practice skills such as active listening, emotional response, and establishing healthy family boundaries. Through real-life scenarios and guided activities, parents gradually learned how to release control, respect differences, and maintain positive connections in the parent–child relationship.
When parents are willing to transform, a child’s growth is no longer a challenge but becomes an opportunity for family relationships to deepen and flourish.
Let’s look back at meaningful moments from the seminar “Transformative Parenting – Mom, Dad, I’ve Grown Up!”
