With the budget of 2.2 billion VND contributed by Vinschool parents, students and staff following the call of the EDURUN 2021 Fund, two spacious and well-equipped kindergartens have been launched in Muong Dun Commune, Tua Chua District and Huoi Mi Commune, Muong Cha District. The brand new schools are expected to realize the dream of learning and playing in a safe and joyful environment meeting educational and preschool child care standards for ethnic minority children in the localities and neighboring areas.

De Tau Campus Project

When Vinschool’s survey team arrived in Muong Dun Commune two years ago, the classrooms of the De Tau school campus built in 2003 were inconveniently spread out, all of which severely degraded. The walls were leaky and the ceilings severely damaged, failing to meet safety conditions. Parents, therefore, could not send their children to the school.

After serious surveying and working with the school board and local authorities, Vinschool decided to have a brand new school built with four classrooms, a public service room, kitchen, and one restroom for the students and another for the teachers. A fence was also erected and the yard tiled. The setup team and partners of Vinschool also sponsored an outdoor playground, nearly 100 meters of concrete road to connect the school, and equipment, utensils and toys, meeting students’ learning and teachers’ working needs.

The learning environment of De Tau Kindergarten, with insufficient and degraded facilities, was unable to meet the learning and living needs of 103 students.

De Tau Kindergarten takes on a new look after reconstruction by Vinschool.

“With the mission of narrowing the educational gap and building spacious schools for students in remote areas across the country, we’re proud to officially hand over De Tau school today after two years of construction with the funding from the EDURUN 2021 fund contributed by Vinschool students, parents, and staff”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, representative of the Board of Directors of Vinschool Education System, at the inauguration ceremony of the new school in May 2023. “We believe that the project is the most meaningful and practical gift for the students, parents and teachers here.”

The new classrooms are spacious, airy and safe

Wishing to promote children’s comprehensive development, Vinschool had a kitchen built to provide them with hygienic and high-quality meals.

“We are extremely touched and honored to receive Vinschool and EDURUN Fund’s support to create miracles in this underprivileged area,” said Ms. Vu Thuy Lan, the school’s principal. “The new spacious, safe and modern school will certainly motivate the educational work in Tua Chua, Dien Bien, and open up a brighter future for the children to grow comprehensively and joyfully,” she added.

De Tau is one of the seven campuses of Muong Dun Kindergarten, the only cluster of kindergartens in Muong Dun Commune, Tua Chua District to meet the learning needs of nearly 400 preschool students in the commune and provide universal education for 5-year-old preschool children. In 2018, the kindergarten’s main campus was built with the budget of EDURUN 2018. Its equipment and facilities all met the standards of a national school.

Lung Thang 1 Campus Project

Located about 100 km away from the center of Dien Bien Phu City, Huoi Mi Commune, Muong Cha District is one of the particularly underprivileged communes covered by difficult terrain, including steep and inaccessible areas. Earlier, nearly 30 students of Lung Thang 1 campus had to study in temporarily built houses in 2008, which were severely degraded, portending many risks for both students and teachers.

From the budget of EDURUN 2021, Vinschool had completely rebuilt the Lung Thang 1 campus, including a classroom, public service office, kitchen, student restroom, fence system around the school, paved yard, and stone talus to ensure stability. Thanks to the support of Vinschool and its partners, the builders expanded the school to over 100 m2 with an enlarged yard, a gate and separate entrance to the school.

Lung Thang 1 campus was handed over to the locality, teachers and students of the school in May 2023.

With the completely new construction of the two kindergarten campuses in two particularly difficult communes of Dien Bien Phu province, the EDURUN fund has continued to realize its mission of narrowing the educational gap and providing a friendly and safe learning environment for students in remote areas, where educational conditions remain limited. Thereby, the value of Care – one of Vinsers’ five core values – has been spread widely to the community.

Vinschool Education System would like to extend our sincere thanks to the sponsors and tens of thousands of Vinschool parents, students and teachers who participated in EDURUN, contributing to nurturing Dien Bien Phu children’s educational dreams
