VINSERS FROM T37 CONQUER THE GLOBAL TECH ARENA

Wednesday, 23/04/2025, 15:04 (GMT)

Among the teams representing Vietnam at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2025 in Dallas, USA, Vinschool Times City Secondary School is proud to have two teams advancing to the global stage: Switch and Curry30. Behind this remarkable journey are the inspiring stories of Phạm Tiến Nam (Grade 6B8) – a member of team Switch, and Nguyễn Quang Tuấn, Nguyễn Trí Dũng, and Đỗ Văn Minh Tiến (Grade 7B1) – the trio representing team Curry30.

National Selection Round: Days of Intense Competition

In February 2025, the Vietnam National VEX Robotics Championship brought together over 90 teams from across the country to compete in Hanoi. In this fierce competition, team Switch, with the participation of young students like Phạm Tiến Nam, stood out by winning the Excellence Award – the highest honor of the tournament – and secured a prestigious ticket to the world finals.

As the team’s Motion Supervisor, Nam was responsible for monitoring and controlling the robot’s movement during matches, ensuring smooth performance in alignment with the team’s pre-programmed strategy. This role demanded strong observation skills, quick reactions, and tight coordination with teammates to respond to any scenario in real time.

“There were matches where a few centimeters of misalignment could change everything. I had to stay fully focused to detect and fix issues immediately,” Nam shared.

VEX Asia Open – Where Curry30 Proved Their Global Readiness

For team Curry30, the road to the world stage began at the VEX Robotics Asia Open 2024-2025, held in Wuxi, China. Competing with teams from Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and many other countries, Curry30 impressed the judges and earned the Think Award – recognizing their strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and robot design capabilities.

“In an international competition, everything changes constantly – language, schedule, environment… But thanks to thorough preparation and clear team roles, we stayed calm and focused,” shared a representative of Curry30.

A Journey of Growth in Knowledge and Skills

For both teams, the journey through VEX Robotics was not just about technology. It was a process of continuous learning, trial and error, developing perseverance, and strengthening collaboration.

“There were days when we stayed at school late into the evening just to test a small algorithm. But every time the robot ran smoothly, we felt even more motivated to keep going,” said Minh Tiến from Curry30.

Dallas – The Next Big Challenge

The world finals in Dallas, Texas will bring together over 800 teams from more than 50 countries. Beyond a battle of engineering skills, it’s a chance for Vietnamese students to showcase their creativity, eagerness to learn, and confidence on a global stage.

Both teams are now fully focused on robot optimization, refining their English presentation skills, simulating match scenarios, and mentally preparing for the international competition.

“I never imagined I’d be stepping onto a world-class stage as a sixth grader. But Robotics gave me that opportunity – and I’m going to take it,” Nam said.

A New Generation: Brave, Ambitious, and Ready to Shine

Regardless of the results in the upcoming world championship, the journey of these four students from Vinschool Times City is already a powerful statement: Vietnamese students are fully capable of mastering technology, confidently stepping into the global arena with technical thinking, critical skills, and teamwork.

We wish teams Switch and Curry30 the very best at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2025 – carrying with them the hopes, aspirations, and spirit of Vietnam to the world.
