Listening Skills – The Foundation of Proactive Learning
CLISE (Life Skills & Character Education) is a signature program designed to develop essential skills, cultivate personal qualities, and nurture character for Vinschool students. Through this program, students not only make progress academically but also strengthen their core competencies, enabling them to confidently overcome challenges in school and in life.
With the goal of equipping Vinsers with fundamental skills to take ownership of their learning and personal growth, the Grade 4 Life Skills & Character Education program is thoughtfully designed around practical and relatable themes. The first theme, “Learning Proactively,” with a focus on “Active Listening and Confidence,” has helped students enhance their learning skills while shaping key qualities for long-term development.
Vinsers participated in a variety of short games aimed at improving concentration and fostering teamwork. Through simulated situations, students came to understand the importance of active listening in both learning and everyday communication. They learned to pay attention when others are speaking, show respect through eye contact and body language, and wait for their turn instead of interrupting—an essential first step toward building a respectful and effective learning environment.
Alongside listening skills, Vinsers were strongly encouraged to express their personal opinions with confidence. Through group discussions and class presentations, many students overcame initial shyness to confidently ask questions and share real-life experiences. They also learned to listen attentively to their peers’ presentations before contributing ideas, demonstrating respect and collaboration. The lesson became truly memorable thanks to these positive changes—small steps that carry great significance in students’ life skills development.
Through this theme, students realized that listening helps them understand issues more clearly and learn from others, while speaking up allows them to express themselves and spread confidence within the group. When practiced consistently, these two skills empower Vinsers to learn more proactively, explore knowledge independently, and grow holistically. They form a strong foundation that helps Grade 4 students become more confident learners, integrate effectively within the community, and be well prepared to face future challenges in life.
