FROM A SMALL GARDEN TO CREATIVE EXPRESSION: THE “EXPLORING INSECTS” JOURNEY OF VINSCHOOL STUDENTS

While diligent ants and colorful butterflies are common in the school garden, they become a magical world through the eyes of the 5-6-year-old students at Vinschool Imperia Hai Phong Kindergarten. Beyond a simple drawing class, the students stepped into the role of nature explorers, independently observing, perceiving, and recreating the microscopic world.

Observation and Real-world Perception Utilizing the green space of the school garden, teachers provided students with magnifying glasses to begin the journey of “Observation – Real-life Perception.” The children directly touched tree bark and observed the movement of insects, aided by guiding questions. This helped the world of insects enter their minds vividly.

Creative Application By integrating observation with artistic creation, these practical experiences were brought back to the classroom. Little Vinsers were given the freedom to translate what they saw into personal artworks. They collaborated, discussed, and selected materials to craft ladybugs and bees based on their own interpretations.

Through this holistic activity, students achieved significant values:

  • Transforming Experiences: Converting real-life observations into unique artistic images and symbols.
  • Developing Mindset: Cultivating a rich imagination, creative thinking (visual arts), and problem-solving abilities regarding material selection.
  • Nurturing Emotions: Building the capacity to appreciate beauty and fostering a love for nature.

At Vinschool Kindergarten, the child is always the center of creativity. The “Finding Insects Together” lesson conveys the message: Art is not about replication; it is about how a child views and feels the wonderful world around them. [Link Here]
