Decorating school events with recycled materials – Green living experiences of Primary Starters students
In decorating school events and classroom spaces, Primary Starters students take part in the entire process of reusing familiar materials such as plastic bottles, paper rolls, box lids, and more. From observing and selecting materials to discussing how they can be reused, the children work together with their teachers to propose ideas and create decorative products that match each event theme.
Rather than focusing solely on the final products, these activities are designed as meaningful learning experiences connected to green living. Students explore why recycling and reusing matter, which materials can be repurposed, and how small choices during the making process can help reduce waste. As they cut, assemble, test, and adjust their creations, the children learn to value available resources and use materials thoughtfully and purposefully.
Through these hands-on and relatable experiences, green living awareness is nurtured naturally. Each finished product not only reflects individual creativity but also shows the children’s growing care for the environment and the community around them.
