Friday, 18/04/2025, 19:04 (GMT+7)

Kicking off the Heritage Journey – Vietnam Mosaic 2025 – a national cultural research competition for secondary & high school students, Vinsers had the opportunity to participate in a workshop titled "Overview of Theme and Suggested Approaches for Students" led by Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hoài, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, Hanoi National University of Education.

The workshop opened doors to a world of knowledge about the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities, inspiring students to explore traditional values through fresh and creative perspectives. Students were also equipped with insights and directions needed to refine their ideas and develop high-quality submissions for the competition.

Throughout the session, students dove deep into the cultural identities of ethnic groups such as the Thái, Tày, Mường, and H’Mông. They explored various aspects of ethnic life, including daily practices, rituals, beliefs, and life philosophies. The workshop introduced students to interdisciplinary research methods across social sciences and encouraged students to ask questions and engage in lively discussions. Topics of interest included: the cultural significance of the traditional thắng cố dish of the H’mông people; differences in Lunar New Year celebrations between the Kinh majority and ethnic minorities; and spiritual beliefs and views on death among communities in the Central Highlands.

“The workshop provided our team with so much valuable knowledge and materials for our research project. Through each story, I realized that ethnic culture is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered by our generations – to preserve, inherit, and infuse with our creativity,” Mai Chi enthusiastically shared.

This workshop is one of the key side events of the Heritage Journey – Vietnam Mosaic 2025 program. With the theme “Preserving and Promoting the Cultural Values of Vietnam’s Ethnic Minorities”, the program encourages students to engage in research and creative thinking to develop solutions for preserving ethnic cultures. Over the course of 3 competition rounds, assessed by an expert panel, students will apply interdisciplinary knowledge (History – Geography – Vietnamese Studies), develop essential 21st-century skills, become familiar with academic research methods, and connect with experts and peers who share the same passion.

Let’s look forward to bold ideas, unique perspectives, and culturally rich academic products from Vinsers in the Heritage Journey – Vietnam Mosaic 2025!
