EDURUN has continued its mission in the historic land of Dien Bien, providing better educational opportunities for local children.
The proceeds from EDURUN 2023, totaling VND 3.2 billion, will be used by Vinschool to build a new central campus for Khong Hin Kindergarten in Khong Nua Hamlet, Muong Khong Commune, Tuan Giao District, Dien Bien Province. This will be the fourth educational institution in Dien Bien funded by EDURUN. Previously, Vinschool constructed three modern schools in the region: the main campus of Muong Dun Kindergarten in Tua Chua District (EDURUN 2018), De Tau campus of Muong Dun Kindergarten in Tua Chua District (EDURUN 2021), and Lung Thang 1 campus of Huoi Mi Kindergarten in Muong Cha District (EDURUN 2021).
Khong Hin Kindergarten, established in 2009, currently has 6 classes, 185 students, and 20 teachers and staff. Located in the second most disadvantaged commune of Tuan Giao District, 20 kilometers from the district center, the school faces extreme transportation difficulties and inadequate facilities. Its corrugated metal classrooms are severely dilapidated and damaged by annual storms and floods. The harsh weather conditions of the Northwestern mountains, with freezing winters and scorching summers, greatly affect the school’s teaching and learning activities.
Faced with these challenges, the school and local community are eager for support from charitable organizations to upgrade and renovate the school facilities, ensuring that teachers and students can focus on their educational activities. After thorough evaluation, Vinschool decided to construct the new central Khong Hin campus on an area of nearly 1,000 square meters. The project will include 6 classrooms, 2 administrative offices, a kitchen, a canteen, 2 staff rooms for 15 teachers and staff, separate restrooms for teachers and students, a playground, a sports field, and supporting landscape infrastructure.
The new campus is inspired by the ban (mountain ebony) flower, a symbol of the Northwest region. This unique design will ensure practicality, safety, and comfort, while also embodying significant cultural meaning, providing inspiration and pride for the teachers and students. Construction is expected to begin at the end of June 2024, enhancing educational quality and promoting sustainable development in the community.
