The GATE Center’s chief function is to provide a personalized education that appropriately challenges and nurtures each gifted student’s strengths and interests, unlocking their potential to become future pioneers and leaders of their own particular areas of talent.
“If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
This famous quote by the renowned physicist Albert Einstein reflects his own childhood experiences of frustration and difficulty adapting to a standardized educational system. He was even regarded as an eccentric child for constantly asking questions that others considered “silly.” Einstein’s story vividly illustrates the urgent need for specialized educational programs that prioritize differentiation, personalization, and tailored challenges for gifted students. The earlier such students are identified and supported, the greater their chances of reaching their full potential.
Guided by this vision and its mission to nurture excellence while meeting gifted students’ unique needs, the Vinschool Education System has established the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Center, providing an optimal environment for students to fully develop their talents.
Notably, all gifted students at the GATE Center receive full sponsorship from Vingroup for their talent development programs.
Gifted students may be identified in various ways, but they are generally characterized by abilities that significantly surpass those of their peers. At Vinschool, the GATE Center identifies the following groups of students as having the highest potential for growth in a specialized environment designed for gifted education. A student may belong to more than one of these groups:
The GATE Center identifies gifted students in various fields solely through publicly announced Talent Selection Programs. Vinschool students in grades 6–11 are encouraged to apply, following the specific guidelines for each program, provided the fields align with their interests and abilities.
Since each gifted student has unique goals and pathways, the GATE Center does not assess applicants through conventional knowledge tests. Instead, the Selection Programs are designed to evaluate students from multiple dimensions, building a comprehensive “evidence portfolio” for each candidate. This may include, but is not limited to: a personal essay, talent portfolios, subject knowledge, teacher recommendations, on-the-spot problem-solving, collaboration skills, achievements, and other relevant factors. Decisions are made based on this evidence portfolio by a Review Panel comprising field experts and GATE Center staff. The challenges and evaluation criteria are continually updated for each Selection Program to ensure alignment with the program’s objectives and to provide the best possible academic experience for all applicants.
At the GATE Center, we beleive that every student is a unique individual with distinct strenghts and educational needs. Accordingly, each gifted student is provided with a personalized Advanced Learning Plan (ALP), which outlines specific learning and development goals based on the student’s aspirations, as well as the steps needed to achieve them. The ALP is developed collaboratively by experts, the school, families, and, most importantly, the student. This personalized approach gives students access to appropriately challenging academic programs, advanced educational opportunities, and a comprehensive, reputable support network tailored to their individual talents and interests.

Therefore, each student’s ALP at the GATE Center clearly reflects personalization through a variety of content, learning formats, activities, and mentorship. Below are some examples of how the GATE Center supports its students:
