From literature to political debates: Explore the dynamic FLE program at Vinschool
At Vinschool, the First Language English (FLE) program goes far beyond the study of language. It is an intellectually rich and stimulating journey that challenges students to think critically, articulate complex ideas with precision, and explore the expressive power of English – whether through literary analysis, academic writing, research, or creative projects.
In the FLE program, Vinschool students engage in a wide range of enriching activities — from exploring English literature to academic writing and creative projects.
From stepping into the shoes of the Queen in Snow White and having to justify her controversial decisions, to assuming the persona of a Republican or Democratic leader in a simulated U.S. presidential election, Vinsers studying FLE engage in a variety of enriching experiences. Beyond nurturing students’ linguistic mastery, the FLE curriculum encourages them to be confident in expressing ideas and interpretations persuasively, reflective in refining their spoken and written responses, innovative in developing their personal style, and engaged in exploring diverse texts through critical reading, listening, and discussion.
“FLE classes at Vinschool are not just about learning English, they are about empowering students to think critically, express themselves creatively, and connect ideas across cultures. Every lesson is designed to challenge them and inspire a lifelong love of language,” shared Ms Liezel Hagunoy Felicano, FLE teacher at Vinschool.
FLE opens opportunities for Vinsers to explore the beauty and depth of English while enabling them to engage with complex ideas, solve problems, and thrive in rigorous academic and professional contexts.
Nguyen Minh Duc, a student, shared: “FLE is an advanced subject that requires focus and effort, but that’s what makes learning so exciting. I feel fortunate to have the support of my teachers and classmates. They were truly the best part of the experience, creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the course.”

| Unique learning experiences in FLE
At Vinschool, each FLE lesson is designed not only to build language skills but also to foster critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity about the wider world. Here are some examples of the diverse learning activities that keep students motivated while developing their English skills comprehensively: Podcasting: Students write and perform a podcast based on a theme or idea connected to the novel they are studying. Character’s POV: Students do a presentation or write a text based on a character from a story they were familiar with, expanding on the original plot while staying true to the character’s perspective. Debates: Students write a debate speech from either the Republican or Democratic POV which was in response to an AI generated speech from the opposing POV. This activity encourages discussion of current issues while honing skills in analyzing and evaluating others’ arguments. |
