When The Candy “Disappears”: Grade 2 Vinsers Explore The Science Of Dissolving
In their Science class, Grade 2 Vinsers became true “little scientists” as they explored the phenomenon of dissolving through a series of exciting experiments. The activity aimed to help students understand the scientific nature of dissolving, while developing essential skills such as observation, note-taking, and maintaining safety during experiments — important foundations for their future science learning.
Under the guidance of their teacher, students identified soluble and insoluble substances, conducted the “Sweet Candy Dissolving” experiment, and recorded their observations by drawing diagrams. They were also encouraged to make predictions, discuss possible risks and safety measures, and connect their learning to real-life situations such as cooking, mixing drinks, or maintaining dental hygiene.
Through this hands-on experience, students gained a clear understanding of soluble and insoluble materials, provided concrete examples, and learned to ask scientific questions. Beyond scientific knowledge, the lesson also fostered collaboration, communication, and critical thinking — reflecting Vinschool’s holistic educational philosophy: learning through experience, developing both knowledge and positive learning attitudes.
