SEMINAR FOR VINSER PARENTS “GROWING UP WITH YOUR CHILD: CONNECTING AND ACCOMPANYING”

“My child has been… so hard to talk to lately!”

That is a shared concern the school receives from many parents of teenagers. From a talkative, close child, they suddenly become “unpredictable”, easily irritable, frequently locking their room door, spending more time on their phones or with friends than with family. Every conversation sometimes ends in silence, defensiveness, or unnecessary conflict. Adolescence is a journey where children seek independence, self-assertion, and the desire for respect. This is also the stage where many parents feel as if they are “losing connection,” no longer knowing how to enter their child’s world.

❓ How can parents understand what their child truly needs?

❓ How to communicate without leading to conflict?

❓ How to accompany without controlling, to respect while still educating?

Understanding these concerns, Vinschool Ocean Park Secondary School organizes a Seminar for Vinser Parents: “GROWING UP WITH YOUR CHILD – CONNECTING AND ACCOMPANYING” The seminar combines theoretical sharing and practical workshop activities, where parents will:

📍 Understand psychological changes & brain activity of adolescents

📍 Identify reasons why children become distant, reactive, or “disobedient”

📍 Practice Reflective Listening – a method to help children feel truly respected and understood

📍 Master the formula for giving feedback without causing hurt

📍 Apply effective communication strategies for voluntary and happy cooperation

📍 Learn to negotiate boundaries (curfew – phone – study – chores) to help children develop a sense of responsibility.

📍 Reflect on how parents are connecting, reacting, and nurturing a relationship of trust and companionship with their child The seminar conveys the message: “Parenting is also a journey of growth – where every day we learn to listen, be patient, and change to walk through the teenage years with our children in a positive and bonded way.”
