GRADE 2 VINSERS AT STEAM LAND: REINFORCING SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND VIETNAMESE THROUGH PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE
In March, grade 2 students from Vinschool Smart City Primary School participated in an experiential learning trip at Steam Land Education Farm, Hanoi. The series of activities was designed to help students reinforce their academic knowledge through observation, experimentation, and hands-on stations.
EXPLORING PHYSICAL LAWS AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS
At the Force and Friction station, students practiced launching water rockets to explore thrust, compression, and pressure, while learning how forces interact in daily life. At the Secret of Magnets station, they studied magnetism, observed magnetic field lines, and experimented with using magnets in compasses for orientation.
Notably, at the Math – Catapult Battle station, students assembled catapult models, identifying geometric elements such as axes of symmetry and angles, and used compasses to determine cardinal directions before testing their models.
CULTURAL CONNECTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
At the “Around Vietnam” station, students collaborated to assemble the national map and introduce their favorite locations, reinforcing geography and language skills under the theme “Vietnam – My Homeland.” The journey concluded at the “My Planet” station, where Vinsers observed and classified flora and fauna, proposing practical actions to protect their environment.
The field trip not only helped students reinforce interdisciplinary knowledge but also honed their observation and collaboration skills. Each experiment contributed to nurturing a passion for learning and empowered students to confidently apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
