Discover the colors world in ESL class
Last week, our Pooh Vinsers had an interesting experience when exploring the colors world through the color mixing activity in the foreign language lesson with the theme Time for English! Unlike regular foreign language lessons, to practice speaking and using English skills, the children transformed into tiny artists, creating colorful paintings through the following learning activities:
🖌️ Delightful Handprints Mixing Activity: Children will use their hands to make colorful handprints. With this activity, they not only practice reviewing basic color vocabulary such as: red, blue, pink, orange, and purple…, but children can also observe and discover what happens when mixing colors. Therefore, children are encouraged to be creative, actively explore the colors mix, and draw conclusions about the results they have just created by using English sentence forms such as: “I can make orange colors from yellow and red/ I mix red and yellow/ Look! The color is orange/…”
🌟 Colorful Pictures: After completing the handprint activity, children drew vivid pictures with the colors they had created. In this activity, children practiced speaking and expressing ideas when presenting their products, helping them to be more confident when speaking in front of a crowd. Children discussed and shared ideas when performing the activity using sentence structures: “This is my picture/ I see [blue/green/red]/ I used a crayon/…”
Such learning activities have helped children stimulate creative thinking, and practice language development skills through vocabulary and sentence forms. In addition, children are also trained to communicate confidently and naturally in English with their teachers and friends.
