Tuesday, 17/09/2024, 18:09 (GMT+7)

At Vinschool, the Mid-Autumn Festival is not just a joyful event for children but also an opportunity to explore and deepen their understanding of the cultural traditions of Vietnam and other Asian countries. The festival’s wide range of activities brought happiness to the young Vinsers, helping them appreciate cultural heritage while also developing important personal skills.

Fostering a love for traditional culture through crafts

The Mid-Autumn Festival crafts at Vinschool provided children with a hands-on experience of traditional culture. As they created lanterns, star-shaped lanterns, paper kites, and kylin heads, they not only learned practical crafting skills such as cutting, gluing, and assembling but also gained a deeper understanding of the cultural meanings behind these traditional toys. These activities sparked creativity, artistic expression, and logical thinking. The children also honed their ability to combine colors and shapes to complete their projects, while developing patience and problem-solving skills.

Building stronger family bonds through creative activities

At Vinschool, we recognize the importance of fostering a strong educational community where families and schools are closely connected. The Mid-Autumn Festival gives families the chance to come together for creative activities, such as making toys and decorating the event space. Activities like crafting toys from recycled materials and participating in kylin- lion- dragon dance dances not only help children learn teamwork and communication but also strengthen family relationships. It’s a chance for parents to see their children’s growth firsthand and to strengthen family ties in a positive educational setting.

Exploring Asian cultures

The festival featured a variety of activity stations that introduced children to cultural traditions from across Asia. They learned about Singapore’s light displays over Marina Bay, Malaysia’s lantern festivals and parades, and the art of origami and making carp-shaped lanterns in Japan. These activities broadened the children’s knowledge of different cultures and helped them appreciate the diversity of the world around them.

Storytelling and folk games – Bridge between the past and the present

Storytelling and folk games offered a wonderful way to connect the past with the present. Stories about Moon Lady, Uncle Cuoi, and other Mid-Autumn legends sparked children’s imaginations and gave them a deeper understanding of the festival’s meaning. Folk games like blindfolded drumming, tug-of-war, and sack races brought fun and laughter while providing opportunities for physical development and teamwork. These games encouraged cooperation and helped the children build strong teamwork skills.

Mid-Autumn Festival at Vinschool is not only a joyful celebration but also a chance to connect with cultural traditions and values. Through these activities, children learn to appreciate their heritage, develop important life skills, and grow into well-rounded individuals.
