Super Starters – Stage 3: “I Am an Inventor” – When children’s ideas become reality
Stage 3 of Super Starters marked a significant milestone in students’ learning journey. From simple ideas, children began thinking like young inventors, transforming their creativity into tangible products of their own.
Super Starters goes beyond simply encouraging students to “make things”; it provides opportunities for children to think, experiment, and improve. In Stage 3, this was clearly demonstrated as students observed, questioned, tested, and refined their creations to make them faster or more effective after each attempt. These are the building blocks of logical thinking and problem-solving—core competencies at the heart of the programme.
At the same time, students made remarkable progress in language development. They not only talked about their products but also explained how they worked, shared their ideas, and expressed their emotions in both Vietnamese and English. Simple phrases such as “My robot can help” or “Con sẽ thử lại” (“I’ll try again”) reflected growing confidence and increasingly clear communication skills.
Another highlight of Stage 3 was the development of collaboration and perseverance. Through teamwork, students learned to listen, divide responsibilities, and work together to improve their products. When challenges arose, they did not give up. Instead, they learned to try again, make adjustments, and appreciate both their own efforts and those of their peers.
Through hands-on building activities, students also strengthened their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while developing habits of organization, responsibility, and working systematically.
Family involvement played a vital role in enriching the learning experience. Home-based activities allowed parents not only to witness the final products but also to understand how their children think, experiment, and grow through each experience. The “Little Inventors’ Expo” served as a wonderful example of this connection, where children confidently showcased their creations while parents became active listeners and enthusiastic participants in their children’s learning journey.
Stage 3 concluded with much more than innovative products. It celebrated students’ remarkable growth in thinking, language, collaboration, and self-confidence. When children are given the opportunity to think, create, experiment, make mistakes, and try again, they grow through every step of their learning journey.
