DISCOVERY SCIENCE: THE GREAT PUMPKIN JOURNEY
Get Ready for Halloween Through the Lens of Science, Math & Nature!
October isn’t just a festive season—it’s the perfect time for our little Vinsers to become real-life young scientists! Leading up to Halloween, the children have the chance to dive into a captivating learning project focusing on Botany and Mathematics, practice using English with the star of the show: The Pumpkin. This is a dynamic way to ignite their passion for exploring the world around them.
🔬 Science Challenge: Decoding the Pumpkin Life Cycle: This is an incredibly fun scientific experience where theory becomes action. Children directly observe and learn the pumpkin’s life cycle (Seed → Sprout → Young Plant → Flower → Fruit). They will plant seeds themselves, care for the plant, and monitor each stage of germination. They learn basic Plant Biology and grasp the incredible wonders of Nature.
➕ Interactive Math: Hold, Compare, and Measure: Math comes alive and becomes engaging through hands-on, real-world experience. Children directly lift, compare, and weigh pumpkins, learning the concepts of “heavy” and “light” in a concrete way. They are encouraged to make predictions about the number of seeds inside, then “dissect” the pumpkin to verify their findings—a crucial foundation for Scientific Thinking and Problem-Solving skills.
🖐 Multi-Sensory Activation: The Pumpkin “Autopsy”: Children explore the world using all their senses. They get to “dissect” the pumpkin, touch the gooey insides, count the seeds, and smell the unique scent of the earth and the gourd. This is a fantastic opportunity to hone all 5 senses and explore the physical world around them in the most tangible way.
