A Place to Belong – Where the Learning Journey Begins

Saturday, 20/06/2026, 12:06 (GMT+7)

The first week of school is always a special milestone, not only for children but also for parents.

For many families, this is their child’s very first school experience. Especially for children aged 12–24 months, adjusting to a new environment, new adults, and a new daily routine takes time.

Some little ones may feel uncertain as they step into the classroom. Some still need extra cuddles from their teachers during those first few days. Others may still shed tears when saying goodbye to their parents each morning and need more time to feel truly secure in their new environment. These responses are all perfectly natural, because before children are ready to explore, learn, and connect with the world around them, what they need most is a sense of safety and belonging.

A Sense of Belonging Begins with the Smallest Moments

For young children, belonging is not a grand concept.

For young children, belonging is not a grand concept. It may be recognizing their teacher, returning to a favorite play corner each morning, smiling when they hear their name called, or simply reaching out to a friend to play together.

Through these simple everyday experiences, children gradually begin to feel loved, seen, and valued as members of their classroom community. And when children feel that they belong, learning begins naturally.

Joy of Belonging

During the first week at Vinschool Kindergarten, activities are designed around the theme “Joy of Belonging,” helping children build their very first connections with their learning environment.

For children aged 12–36 months, the activity Follow the Light” gives each child a special star that represents their unique identity.

As their name is called and their star lights up, children begin to feel welcomed and recognized as an important member of the class.

For children aged 3–5, those first connections expand through shared experiences with friends.

During “Friendship Tea Party,” children chat, share, and discover common interests. Through simple greetings or invitations like “Come and play with me!”, they begin learning how to cooperate and build positive relationships.

For children aged 5–6, the desire to contribute and take on meaningful roles within the group becomes stronger.

Activities such as the Space Station Launch & Little Leaders Introduction Ceremony” encourage children to confidently introduce themselves, take on responsibilities, and help create the first classroom agreements together.

Children Need to Know They Belong Before Exploring the World

A child’s growth does not begin with big milestones. It begins with simple moments: being warmly welcomed each morning, being listened to when sharing feelings, connecting with friends, and being trusted as an important part of the community.

Because before children learn to explore the world, every child needs to know that they are loved, respected, and that they belong. And sometimes, a lifelong learning journey begins with something as simple as that.

The Joy of Growing

Every day at school is a joyful journey of growth, where children are loved, connected, and supported to develop at their own pace.
